daughter's homework
Ok this is what my daughter has came up with for her paragraph. Does it make sense? She is in 8th grade. She is more advanced than me in my Spanish class! Thank you to everyone who helps me with her and her homework!
People lived in the early 1800s with no luxuries. No running water, buckets of water brought from the stream, dirt floors, no electricity but oil lamps, no TV, radio, Iphones, Ipad, Ereaders, No cars so walked to school. To ensure a better quality of life people should recycle to preserve the lands
Personas que viven en los principios del 1800 y nada de lujos. No disponen de agua corriente, baldes de agua desde el arroyo, pisos de tierra, no la electricidad, sino las lámparas de aceite, ni televisión, radio, Iphone, el Ipad, Ereaders, ni coches tan caminado a la escuela. Con el fin de garantizar una mejor calidad de vida la gente debe reciclar para preservar las tierras.

just a few corrections: ...principios de los 1800 tuvieron nada de lujos ... ni coches, entonces caminaron a la escuela...
As for the last sentece, I don't see its realtion to the rest of the paragraph at all but it should be "Para asegurar uan mejor calidad de vida, se debe reciclar para preservar el medio ambiente".

I agree with avestruzless that this sentence doesn´t go with the paragraph, but she has offered an alternate version, which is fine. However, it´s perfect just as originally written.
I would make a few different changes to the rest of the paragraph:
La gente que vivía durante los principios del siglo 1800 vivía sin lujos. No disponía de agua corriente, sino cargaba baldes de agua desde un arroyo, usaba pisos de tierra, no tenía electricidad sino lámparas de aceite, no disfrutaba ni televisión, radio, Iphone, el Ipad, o Ereaders. Como no tenía coches iba a pie a la escuela.
