Stumped on proper phrasing.
I would like to say: "I am glad that we came to visit you."
In casually consulting the translator, I get three options, none of which seem correct. I think the first one is the most correct, but shouldn't the subjunctive be used?
Me alegro de que llegamos a visitarte.
Me alegra que nos vino a visitar.
Me alegro de que vinimos para visitarle.
Thanks!

Mis propuestas (dependiendo del contexto, puede ser mejor una que otra):
"Me alegro de que viniéramos a visitarte"
"Me alegro de que hayamos venido a visitarte"
"Me alegro de haber venido a visitarte"
Yes, because you are "glad" about something. Using the mnemonic device, WEIRDO, your reason for the subjunctive is "emotion." Another thing is that you are glad now, but you visited them in the past, so I think your examples would look like this...
Me alegro de que te visitáramos. - I'm glad we visited you.
Me alegra que (nosotros) viniéramos a visitarte. - I'm glad we came to visit you.
There is a way to do this with using just one clause in a sentence. Since there is no second clause, the subjunctive is not used.
Nos alegramos de haberte visitado.
We are glad to have visited you.
I'm not very sure myself on most of these. I hope we get more answers ![]()
Me alegro que que vinimos a visitarte. Good luck!
i am glad that we came visit you me alegro de que venimos a verte =D
The first verb was singular, the second was plural (we).
If you want to make the distinction between the 'I' in the first clause and the 'we' in the second you need:
Me alegro/a que viniéramos a visitarte/lo/la/los/las. This requires the use of the subjunctive as the second clause is the result of an emotion and there is change of subject.
If this distinction is not needed the best is:
Me alegro/a de haberte/lo/la/los/las visitado This is more succinct and avoids the subjunctive.
