Am I going to fast...

Am I going to fast...

I think I have asked a question each day for the past 3 days, but I have one more for now. I've been watching the video lessons from Paralee. I'm not too far into the midst of all the lessons yet, but I'm scared that I' m watching too many even though it feels like I'm retaining it pretty well. I have watched about one a day so far, and maybe a second one on some nights. Tonight I reviewed the videos from the past couple of days, plus another one. I noticed she mentioned something about, "And next week, we'll learn," or something like this. Do I need to be viewing one per week only? Or maybe I should keep going until I feel I need to slow it down a little, as I won't be able to watch a video EVERY single day. It just feels that If I kept doing this I'd go through all the videos in about 4-5 months, more or less. I guess I'm asking if you personally think I need to be more patient.

PS- I didn't know where else to put this question, so I stuck it here raspberry

I feel the more the better. Doing the lessons frequently will help things sink in, but adding various other things to your routine will really help you a lot. I find reading news or watching videos is very useful. Do these throughout your day and I think you'll find that your learn much faster.

You can't learn too fast if you ask me! I think you'll know if you need to start slowing down because the lessons build on eachother. At that point, you could try incorporating other types of exposure: read a book or watch movies in Spanish, try keeping a journal in Spanish (really good practice with conjugating in the subjunctive, perfect, imperfect, past tense, etc), or finding a friend to hang out with and challenge eachother not to use any English. There are lots of ways to even-out your learning that will also help you be aware of when your retention drops (because you'll know that you should be able to use certain structures but don't remember how). It will be tough at first, especially if you are new at Spanish but I think practical exposure will complement the content of the lessons perfectly! ~ Ave

In my opinion, the more exposure the better. I suppose you could reach a point of diminishing returns, but I doubt that would happen by devoting one or two hours a day to Spanish.
