Dear Spanishdict.com members,

We have heard your concerns and we have reached what we believe will benefit all the members of Spanishdict.com.

We are continuing to be more organized with the forum rules, especially regarding proper punctuation, grammar and specific details in member questions.

At times, members have replied in an answer to these questions that overlook the rules. We understand your enthusiasm and desire to help others and are grateful for your wealth of knowledge and willingness to share. If you wish to answer or comment to the poster, we ask that you please consider including a gentle suggestion to the member to correct the errors in the post for the benefit of all.

The moderators will be watching for the following broken rules:

? Be nice. Treat everyone on the forum with respect.

? Focus on learning. Only post topics that help with language learning. No social chatting.

? Search first. Ask second. Search the dictionary and forum for answers before posting.

? Be detailed. Include the topic clearly in the title. Provide context for the question.

? Keep the language family-friendly. No profane, lewd, or obscene language or photos.

? Stay on topic. Start a new thread to discuss a separate topic.

? Use correct capitalization, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. We are a language site.

? No advertising or promotional activity. Our forum is for learning.

? Do your own homework. Homework questions will only receive help if you try to answer first.

Estimados usuarios,

No charla social.

No publique contenido explícito o profano.

Yes, thanks for giving us a little bit of leeway. However, there is still no translation of the rules or posting protocols into Spanish. How will the English learner know the rules, if they are not in Spanish or is this primarily a Spanish learning site?

I appreciate the reconsideration of the protocols. Along with answering any legitimate question I will try to ask the poster to follow the rules. I hope that there will be no more emails to members who seek to assist with answering questions regardless of the quality of the grammar, punctuation, spelling or clarity of the question.

One question: Should we edit for such errors or leave them for a moderator or the poster to correct?

I think see one of the misperceptions here. The answer gringojrf is we're trying to get people to give the correction in a comment, and suggest the poster to correct it. If not, we'll be trying to stop back by and correct it. Did I get that right? =] - DJ_Huero, Apr 23, 2012
In your first line, you need to add another "I". - john20, Apr 24, 2012
Also add a comma after "gringojrf". Please. - john20, Apr 24, 2012
Thanks john20, unfortunantly we can't edit comments huh? Us, Americans, speaks all kinds of crazy grammar & I'm sure my comments need it. ;-) - DJ_Huero, Apr 24, 2012

One question:

Gringo: Should we edit for such errors or leave them for a moderator or the poster to correct?

Your question was answered. What makes you ask "should we edit for such errors or leave them for a moderator or the poster to correct"?

Nothing in the new Protocols says anything about leaving them for a moderator or the poster to correct. You are bringing this in and it is not necessary.
