Hey guys, I'm a new user who is wondering

Question

Whom here has had the experience of moving to a Spanish speaking country? (without knowing Spanish)

How long did it take you to assimilate and what issues do you still have?

Yes, I've done this in 2 Spanish speaking countries. I also work in other Spanish speaking countries. I knew 'burrito' & 'taco' and 'hasta la vista, baby' from the movie... and that is all the Spanish I knew as of 2 years ago.

I wish I'd had at least a basic course in Spanish and had learned some vocabulary before I came. I had lived in other countries so the culture shock wasn't as bad as my first move overseas. I was also used to higher crime rates so that was not such a shock either.

I have really enjoyed my experience (although not all of it has been enjoyable). I find the people in the countries I live in and work in to be absolutely wonderful.
