Simple Question about Past progressive tense (ing words)
To make english words ending in 'ing' into spanish, you only have to add 'eds' to the end of the spanish word?
eg. yo hablo, i speak would become 'yo hableds'? that sounds way off to me... (I speak, I'm speaking, is where I'm aiming at)

I'm not going to get overly complex here, but to form the "ing" form you would add "ando" to the stem of Spanish verbs ending in "ar", and "iendo" to those ending in "er" or "ir". Examples: hablar would be "hablando", ver is "viendo", and pedir is "pidiendo" (slightly irregular).
To form the continuous tense, as in "I'm speaking", you use the conjugated form of the veb "estar" plus the "ing" form. "Estoy hablando" is "I am talking".

"Ing" becomes "ando" and "iendo" and "yendo" sometimes. You have to change it based on what the verb ends with. Just make sure you start by conjugating estar.
Hablar -> estar hablando.
Comer -> estar comiendo.
Leer -> estar leyendo.
Escribir -> estar escribiendo.
