la orquídea
Just went through Learn Spanish 4.10- flowers, accents and tildes. In the flashcards orchid is spelled 'orchídea', in my dictionary (collins books) it's spelled 'orquídea' and that's how it comes up in wordreference.com, google translate recognises both of them. If I didn't know the word orchid, I'd go and pronounce the 'ch' in 'orchídea' something like the Hungarian 'cs' (in English probably closest 'tch'- as in Tatcher). This is not a question of lief and death but now I'm curious, and possibly everytime I see an orchid, I'll be wondering ![]()
