Spanish Animes

Question

¡Hola! I really need an anime or movie to improve my Spanish. Can you please give me some suggettions or help me to find the right way to improve my listening and speaking skills? Then, because I'm new in Spanish, I need to use the words and grammar. What can I do to refresh my knowledge and use it beneficially? ¡Gracias!

I watch Disney movies and other cartoons like Spongebob Squarepants with Spanish audio and no subtitles, and the fact that I know the movies/episodes already, helps me follow along better and I can listen to the natural Spanish equivalents of what's said in English. But if you're a beginner, you may want to use subtitles if you do this.

I'm getting to the point where I can look the Spanish television channels/shows and listen to the radio stations in the car and get the gist but even after all these years of studying, I get really disappointed at how slow my speaking/listening progress is going, which is why I decided to try to meet some native Spanish speakers even if it's only online. I met a guy that lives in Honduras a couple of weeks ago and we talk everyday via webcam and that helps me tremendously with my listening and speaking and him with English too. The thing is, though, that somehow we started off talking under a more romantic guise so the fact that we like each other and want to get to know each other and communicate kind of forces us to speak to and understand each other in Spanish/English. The people I talked to strictly for language exchange it was and still is kind of awkward for me and wasn't as effective but that was just my experience. It may be weird at first for you if you wanted to do that but it's so worth it. Hope that wasn't too long

Hi, I use Candy candy dubbed in Spanish. The storyline is just OK but the dubbing is clear. You can find the rest of the episodes in youtube.

You might also want to check animextremist.com. This site is a gold mine. I haven't explored it fully yet. Some of the links don't work (megavideo shut down) but the text is in Spanish and they have a pretty good collection of anime. You can either download or watch online. You just need a little patience navigating through broken links.

I love newsinslowspanish.com but that is more for the intermediate learner. Also, watching movies in Spanish (Finding Nemo, etc.) is very helpful for me (just select Spanish as the language and then select English for subtitles). This works with most DVD's. Repeated viewings are very helpful. There are children's books available in Spanish in the library that are pretty simplistic. I also like to listen to Spanish radio stations online sometimes.
