I have been told there is a very simple way of expressing the spanish imperfect tense that reammar books done cover.Any comments.Thanks

That sounds like a claim made in some advertising for a Spanish course or for some Spanish leaning software.
The imperfect tense is not that difficult. It is used in Spanish to set a scene in the past that some specific action (in the past tense) will occur. The only thing difficult about the imperfect tense is that we don't have it in English. Thus, one has to develop a new ability - to distinguish whether you are setting a scene for past action, or talking about a specific past action that occurred within the scene you set. Not too hard.

The endings are fairly easy to use, and there are few irregular verbs in the imperfect tense, which means you have a lot less to learn. - Esteban3304, Apr 13, 2012
