"Que variedad"

"Que variedad"

I have a friend in Mexico who always tells me what sounds like, "Qúe variedad contigo" or possibly, "Qúe barriedad contigo." I can tell by the context that it means that I'm either funny or amusing. Does anybody know exactly what this means?

"Qué barbaridad (contigo)" is a very common phrase. It can mean what you are thinking, but it is usually an expressive phrase, the same as "¡Qué horror!" which implies amazement at something rather negative.

Thank, Julian. Now that you've given me the proper spelling, I found that it can mean, "How horrible, " "That's incredible." or in the context that my friend uses, "How ridiculous." Thanks again for the help! - prometidodefernanda, Apr 12, 2012
