I have heard what, to my ear, sounds like ''holeen''. I thought it would be written, ''jolin''.

Any one know what it is I heard?

Welcome to the forum warren, I helped you out with some editing. Please take note and use proper punctuation in the future. ;-) Anyways, between Missy and Eddy, I think we were able to determine what you were looking for. =] - DJ_Huero, Apr 26, 2012

Jolín o Jolines is an exclamation meaning something like "flip" or "flipping hell".

Are you talking about a Spanish word you heard? If so, then you might have heard "jolín or "jolines." It´s an expression people use when they´ve "had it up to here."

An example: At a party I was at, they started the movie Spiderman for the kids. One of the little girls was fidgeting until she just burst out, "¡Jolines! ¡No quiero mirar Spiderman! ¡Odio esta película!"

I have also heard a coworker sigh the word loudly when she finds out she has a ton of work to do. For example, she is sitting at her desk and then realizes she has to re-do all the work from yesterday because there was an error entering the information into the system. Instead of an "ugh," she says "¡JOLINES!"
