Put a cherry on top?

Put a cherry on top?

Hola, I'm trying to use the phrase "put a cherry on top" or "put the icing on the cake" meaning to finish something with a bang or extravagantly. Does anyone know a phrase like this in Spanish? I know that a direct translation wont work, and I can't think of a way to say this without using a metaphor. Thanks.

We use the expression "Poner la guinda (al pastel)":

"El cantante puso la guinda al espectáculo con la última canción que interpretó"

"Llevas todo el día diciendo cosas absurdas, pero con este comentario has puesto la guinda al pastel"

Is this just for Spain? Do you know if it is for Latin American countries, too? - missy8888, Apr 10, 2012
No sé si se utiliza fuera de España, Missy. - Cordobesa, Apr 10, 2012
