when should I use Le referring to a person? such as he would like means Le gustaria, but I've heard people use se gustaria instead. Help? Also se lo agradezco mucho is another example which means its been a pleasure (is that a correct interpretation of the word)?

Or you can use either or, but sometimes it is a matter of direct and indirect objects. For example, you would use "se" if you had a direct object pronoun of "lo". When talking about giving a rose to a woman: Se la doy (I give it to her) YOU WOULD NOT SAY: "Le la doy" OR "La la doy" ("la" being the direct object pronoun, referring to the rose of course). As for your last question, I think that is a pretty good translation. Your are thanking for the person that you may not know as well (usted) a lot for the time spent together. It would be "te lo agradezco mucho" if you know something well like a good friend or a family member (tu). But, I am sure you know that already. I hope that this helps! :D

Thanks! I knew you use Se with direct object pronouns, but with se alone I've heard it both ways. - dyruse, Apr 14, 2012
