hasta (ah'-stah)

adverb ( until, as far as, also, even )

Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The sentence with the most votes will be crowned the Word of the Day winner!

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. Nos quedamos hasta el sábado.

We are staying until Saturday.

2. Todo había ido bien hasta que él llegó.

Everything had gone smoothly until he arrived.

Contexto: El perro está pensando.

Hasta ahora, no me ha gustado mi pasta de dientes, pero esta nueva pasta de dientes es maravillosa! Nunca tuve los dientes blancos como este! Por lo general son un amarillo feo!

Context: The dog is thinking.

Up to now, I haven't liked my toothpaste, but this new toothpaste is wonderful! I've never had white teeth like this! Usually they are an ugly yellow!

  • Estoy esperando para que me mires con el alma;
  • Estoy esperando para que suavemente me cojas la mano;
  • Estoy esperando para que alegremente bailes conmigo;
  • Hasta el fin de mi vida...
  • I am waiting for you to get closer to me;
  • I am waiting for you to soulfully look at me;
  • I am waiting for you to tenderly take my hand;
  • I am waiting for you to joyfully dance with me;

No he visto nunca hasta ahora un edificio que ser capaz de cantar bajo la lluvia. Pero este edificio realmente lo hace cuando llueve.

Rac's correction:

I have never seen until now a building, which be able to sing in the rain. But this building really does when it rains.
