Hi Libby. This being a forum, most of the post here are questions. I changed the title of you post to make it relevant to the post. Welcome to SD! - afowen, Apr 4, 2012

Remember that we can't always translate everything literally. Other than "¿Qué pasa?" and "¿Qué tal?" you might also ask, "Qué onda?" which is basically slang for "What's up?" You can also ask, "¿Cómo te va?" or "¿Cómo le va?" which both mean, "How's it going?"

¡Qué pasa! What's up? What's happening etc.

Hola Libby79, my friend in Belize told me that ¿qué tal? means what's up or what's going on.

Mi amigo en Belice me dijo '¿qué tal?' significa lo que pasa.

My Spanish is not very good. I hope it makes sense.
