entregar (en-treh-gar')

verb ( to deliver, to turn in, to hand in, to hand over )

Link: instructions to post picture

Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The sentence with the most votes will be crowned the Word of the Day winner!

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. Entreguen sus exámenes al final de la clase, por favor.

Please turn in your exams at the end of class.

2. Afortunadamente entregan los pedidos en el día.

Thankfully they offer same-day delivery.

Esa voz "le" en oraciones como esta es más usual en España. Para mí está bien, aunque yo diría "cuando lo cogieron" o "cuando lo atraparon". - -cae-, Apr 4, 2012

Me gusta mucho mandar las cartas y las tarjetas postales a mis amigos, pero nuestro servicio postal es muy lento y desordenado y gasta mucho tiempo a entregarlo tarda mucho tiempo en entregarlas, así que mis amigos reciben el correo muy tarde.

I like to send sending the letters and the post cards to my friends very much a lot, but our post service is very slow and disorganised, so my friends recieve the post them too late.

Me entrega a entregar una frase para la palabra del día, día tras día, semana trás semana, pero a veces me canso on poco. Hoy es uno de éstos días

I dedicate myself to delivering a sentence for word of the day, day in, day out, week after week, but sometimes I just get a bit tired of it. Today is one such day.
