So I have a question about reputation. How exactly do you earn it? I looked at the description of it and I have been earning some, but I still don't understand it. Like, what is it for, anyway? And do I need to earn it for some purpose?

You gain reputation by asking and answering questions that other members give you votes for. The better the question or answer the more votes you will get. You can also vote for others and get points.

You get 10 points for each vote you get from others and 1 point each time you vote for someone else (up to 10 or 20 per day). With an overall limit of 200 per day (24 hour period).
