Probar vs. Tratar

Probar vs. Tratar

  1. Prueba con el número dos. De repente y lo aciertas.

  2. La blusa me queda muy ancha. Me voy a tratar otra.

Are you Italian? At what age did you learn a second language. If it's too personal, please ignore me. I'm just very impressed. - island_fever, Oct 1, 2012

- francobollo, Apr 2, 2012
dije que no sé. - Starwarsfreak, May 16, 2012
How can you say you don't like when you haven't even it tried it? Probar is the right choice here. - francobollo, Oct 1, 2012

La frase 2 no es correcta porque tratar significa ' to test', ' to attempt', ' to try to do something' ( f.i. in a specific manner). This is not the case when you try on clothes. They are not going to fight you, you just want to find out if they suit you or whether you like them. In that case you use 'probar'. But in a sentence such as 'Try to catch me if you can' you can't use 'probar' . It should be 'tratar de ' or 'intentar': Trata de atraparme si...
