Yes, they are lovely folks. I hope you have success. Just a reminder to use correct captialization since there are people on this site trying to learn correct English, too. I edited for corrections this time. - katydew, Mar 31, 2012

Hola Pennypicker, our Spanishdict.com can be used in several ways. I see you have found the flashcard section and that you have been working with food and entertainment.

How do you like those flashcards so far?

Are they helping?

Did you know any of those words from previous study?

Can you translate the following words from English to Spanish?

rice =

chicken =

milk =

movie =

If you copy and paste the words in the box above into the question area of Spanishdict.com and then put in your own answers in Spanish we can correct you and give you some more words to practice! Maybe even a full sentence!

Spanish is Spanish. Their are different dialects. And then your have 'vosotros' of Spain and 'voseo' of a short list of countries, but what you need is to learn Spanish. And you can talk to Puerto Ricans (such as your wife perhaps) to get used to their accents after/throughout that. I'm not informed fully.. but that seems to me like saying "I want to learn Louisiana English". I don't think there is any "learn Puerto Rican Spanish" sites/tools

www.123teachme.com (great vocabulary and reading site)

www.studyspanish.com (great grammar site, introduces you to everything)

www.quizlet.com (find and create the best flashcards ever to work your memory)

www.livemocha.com (Best for practicing pronunciation and writing skills with native input)

The basic form and structure of Spanish is pretty universal. There are many different local variations, so if you know that you will be primarily communicating with people from Puerto Rico, perhaps you could seek out a tutor from that area as you are learning your basic Spanish skills. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Concentrate on learning the structure of the language, and the rest will follow once you start to talk to your family in Spanish. Good luck!
