Cultural sensetivity?

Cultural sensetivity?

I work in an agricultural industry. For 90 days out of the year I supervise over 25 seasonal employees from Texas. I have picked up quite a bit of Spanish from them, however I am ready to "step it up a notch." I am currently studying using SpanshDict.com and I am trying to use it daily at work with native Spanish speakers.

I often wonder if the seasonal workers take offense when I butcher their beautiful language. No one has ever given me any reason to believe this. If anything they laugh when I inadvertently say something silly. Has anyone ever had these same feelings?

I have often found that the native Spanish speakers were very pleased when I tried to use their language. I have also found that the majority of English speaking peolple expect everyone to speak their language no matter where they travel. So just keep trying. You will learn a lot from your mistakes I am sure.
