How do you translate names into Spanish? Do some names not translate? If not, then what would you do? If somebody knew the answer to any of these it would help.

Generally speaking, proper names should not be translated. However, very common (and/or Biblical) names have an equivalent in almost every language. Examples:

Mary - María; Joseph - José; Edward - Eduardo; Sarah - Sara; Margaret - Margarita; Phillip - Felipe, etc.

There are also names that cross over from one language to the other without altering the spelling at all. Examples:

Daniel, Samuel, David, Sebastian, Benjamin, etc.

I hope this helps!

Many traditional names have close English relatives. Especially those based on the bible or very old literature. Some very common ones are:

Juan / John Pedro / Peter Miguel / Michael Andres / Andrew Guillermo / William Esteban / Stephen And so on... sorry, don't know all the exact accents on the Latino names.

Here's a website from a quick Google search that might give you some more answers: Spanish English Names
