Inside a birthday card...

Question

Hi all

I have brought my boyfriend a paragliding experience thingy for his birthday and would like to write something like this inside his card:

I couldn't think of a gift you can keep... so I hope this will be a memory to treasure

Yo no podía pensar de un regalo que puedes mantener... así que espero que este será un memoria a tesoro

Does that make sense? Or is there a better, more poetic way of saying the same thing?

I would say: "En lugar de darte un regalo de cumpleaños tangible, pensé que sería mejor obsequiarte una experiencia inolvidable".

I don't know if it's poetic, but maybe something like "No podía imaginar un regalo que pueda guardar, y por eso espero que éste será una memoria que pueda apreciar para siempre."

Eveyone please let me know if I messed this up too badly.

I chnaged "treasure" because it is a noun, not a verb. Spanish does not have a direct equivalent of "to treasure". - Noetol, Mar 27, 2012
