Is it easier to write than speak Spanish?

For me it is easier to write Spanish than speak it, is this normal for others?

Well, I have the opposite problem. I lived in Mexico for four years and spoke only Spanish but I had no need to write it. So when I started writing here in SD I had, and still do, lots of problems with tildes and such. Speaking is interactive and small mistakes are overlooked. Not so with writing.
I believe that writing Spanish is easier than speaking it. For one thing, you have time to think about what you want to write. And for another thing, you don't have someone that you are also trying to understand when you are writing. In conversation, you have to keep up with both sides of the dialogue.
In my opinion speak is the easier than writing but Writing and speech complement each other .
My son lives and works here in Barcelona and speaks fluently has never had lessons in grammar just learned by immersion on the other hand I have been studying for years and know much more about Spanish grammar than he does but he converses without any problems whereas all I can say about myself is I get by but to hold a conversation is extremely difficult.
Yes, this is very normal. Is exactly like me.
Just my two cents worth - I learned by reading and studying on my own, without any real "immersion". I can now do a pretty good job of reading, a little less so in writing, and not a very good job at all of listening or speaking.
If I had the chance to do it over, I would force myself to speak and listen more. As they say, hindsight is 20/20.
Well, it mostly depends on that person. But yes, if you don't forget to spell and use the accents correctly, it is easier than speaking it.
Hello I'm a native Spanish speaker for me is easier to write in English because that was the way I learned in school actually when I came to USA I found the way people speaks English was different than my school practices..
I find it easier to write than speak all of the languages I know.
that's exactly what my problem is. Writing simple structures is a piece of cake, speaking simple structures... not so much.
Very discouraging, I think its all a matter of how you learned and got acquainted with the language
I have found that to be true as well, but I think that's probably the norm.
Yes, definitely. Have no worries, I think most people have that problem. Myself included. Just keep working at it!

I would rather type Spanish and read off it when speaking since there are no silent hidden letters, but if I practice a particular part of Spanish, I don't feel like typing it out and then saying it. As an example, I simply say "buenos días" or "hasta mañana". If I were a beginner, I would have typed or wrote it all out before reading off it to make sure my pronunciation was accurate.
