Are these sentences correct? using "poner en peligro" {endangered}

Question

I read a monthly newsletter from our automotive garage, which is in English, and I thought it would be fun to try my hand at translating a few topics into Spanish.

Are books becoming an endangered species?
¿Están libros haciendo unas especie puesto en peligro?

Why do we listen to the groundhog?
¿Por qué hacemos escucharnos a la marmota?

Hi Foxluv,

In Spanish, an endangered species is expressed as "una especie en peligro de extinción". I would rephrase as: "¿Estarán los libros en peligro de extinción?"

The second phrase, I would translate as: ¿Por qué le hacemos caso a la marmota? (Hacer caso means to listen, as in paying mind).

In the second sentence I think you can omit the "hacemos" and just say....¿por qué escuchamos a la marmota? or ¿Por qué seguimos escuchando a la marmota?
