I've always used the term "contador Geiger".

I agree with Cordobesa. And if you have any more technical terms that need translating, here´s a trick:
Go to the English wikpedia page of the term.
Look on the left-hand sidebar, where there are "languages" listed.
Look for "Español" and click.
There you go, you have the Spanish wikipedia page of the English term, and therefore a translation of the name of it!
