Fractions in Spanish

Several weeks ago I took the National Spanish Exams and two of the questions were fractions. I got them both wrong because I used ordinal numbers for the denomators. I suggested a grammar lesson be added for fractions, but it still has not happened. So can anyone help with the common fractions used in everyday life. 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/8, 1/9. 1/10, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64?

These are very useful in hardware stores for buying screws and bolts.

Thanks cordobesa. I think the two I missed were 1/3 and 1/8th but octavo is an ordenal. Is there another way to say this. Tercio is different for sure and I used tercero so clearly a miss on my part. - gringojrf, Mar 24, 2012
Now that I think more about it the other I missed might have been 1/16, not 1/8. - gringojrf, Mar 24, 2012
- Cordobesa, Mar 25, 2012
Gracias. I am sure that you are correct and that my memory is faulty, and more so every day as I get older. - gringojrf, Mar 25, 2012
This is very good information. Thanks so much! - sanlee, Mar 25, 2012
No, Gringo, puede que tengas razón y que en otros sitios se utilice otra terminología... - Cordobesa, Mar 25, 2012
Gracias. I know that 1/3 was one and I used tercero, not tercio so I for sure was wrong on that one. The other I just don't remember. Oh well, its water under the bridge. Thanks again. - gringojrf, Mar 26, 2012
