In spanish how would you say .Please put a tick in the little box ?

El diccionario dice así: ponga una cruz en la casilla
Are you talking about putting an insect (tick) in a little box? or putting a mark in a box on a form? From the two answers you've reveived you can see the confusion. I've been a software developer for 24 years and I've never heard this term used for putting a mark in a box.
