How do you tell if a verb is present, past, future, or conditional in the indicative tense when you are doing the indicative vs. the subjunctive?

I was thinking of the infinitive not the indicative. So my answer was way wrong. Sorry.

You're thinking of the infinitive, gringojrf. The infinitive is the base (unconjugated) form of a verb. Indicative and subjunctive are moods, not tenses. - babs_irish, Mar 22, 2012
You are absolutely correct. How stupid of me. - gringojrf, Mar 22, 2012
Nooooo, grigojrf. A simple mistake. :-) - babs_irish, Mar 23, 2012

JRD802, You can only tell if a verb is present, past, or future tense by knowing the context of the sentence. If you're looking at a sentence that's written in Spanish and you're not familiar with the conjugated verb, use the conjugator here on this site and type in the infinitive. That will show you what the verb tense is of the particular sentence you're reading.
