How do I translate "putting"?

Greetings, please forgive my ignorance in posting questions as I am new to this page. I would greatly appreciate your help in translating the following.

Let's go "putting" for books!

It's an invitation to participate in an event for school to raise money for a literacy program. I just can't seem to make sense of "putting". Thanks for your help in advance.

"golpear en corto," is the definition I get from the dictionary, so It would be something around the lines of:

¡Dejános golpear en corto para los libros!

Putting in golf refers to the last stroke(s) needed to get the ball into the hole. These shots are called "putts" and are made with a "putter". As to how to make a fund raiser out of this I have no idea.

It has to do with hitting the golf ball into the hole. - SinPalabras, Mar 19, 2012
