Summer

El verano

Cordobesa will be the official corrector of the Spanish sentences and since there are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Cordobesa's suggestions.

Usa la palabra en una frase en inglés y añade la traducción al español. Intenta usar la palabra de una manera original y vota por las frases que más te gusten. La frase con más votos será coronada la ganadora del juego de la palabra del día.

Las directrices:

  • Escribe solamente frases que tengan, al menos, 5 palabras.
  • No escribas párrafos con 4 frases o más.
  • Haz las correcciones sugeridas por los usuarios y mods.
  • ¡Usa tus propias palabras! (No uses el traductor, ni un libro, ni la letra de una canción.)
  • ¡Disfruta de este juego de inglés!

Mi ejemplo:

During the summer is a great time to go to the beach in Florida and to enjoy a sunset together.

El verano es un buen momento para ir a la playa en Florida y disfrutar de un atardecer juntos.

Summer fruits are so tasty that you don't really need any good reason to eat them.

Las frutas de verano son tan sabrosas que no se necesita una buena razón para comerlas.

En Inglaterra tenemos un clima muy templado, solamente hay dos temporadas, el invierno y el invierno verde, al que también se llama verano .

In England we have a very mild climate, there are only two seasons, the winter and the green winter, also known as the summer. enter image description here

I was wondering why you had me switch out pais for ciudad and then realized it's because my English sentence had city, not country.... Hey, thanks for the corrections! It's wonderful to have help. - katydew, Mar 18, 2012
Super guapa... and a very ambitious sentence! - mstivers, Mar 20, 2012

When it is summer in the northern hemisphere, it is winter in the southern hemisphere.

Cuando es verano en el hemisferio norte es invierno en el hemisferio sur.

Katy's corrections:

If everything is going well for me, this summer I will travel to Spain. I want to desperately. So I keep my fingers crossed.

Caefuego's corrections: Si todo me va bien, viajaré a España este verano. Lo ansío desesperadamente. Así que cruzo los dedos.

Original: Si todo estará bueno para mí, viajará por España este verano. Lo quiero desesperadamente. Pues, sigo cruzando mis dedos.

I would do a little corrections: "Si todo me va bien, viajaré a España este verano. Lo ansío desesperadamente. Así que cruzo los dedos". - -cae-, Mar 18, 2012
Thank you so much, Caefuego! Little corrections, almost everything was wrong:)) - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 18, 2012
No at all, because I could undestand the message. I'd like to go to Spain sometime too, but I'd prefer to go in winter to meet the snow. :-) (I'm practicing English). - -cae-, Mar 18, 2012
By the way, I used the verb "ansiar" because you are expresing desire (a wish) more than an intention. In fact, I should have used the verb "desear" but If I would have done it, the resulting sentence would have sounded cacophonous. So I used "ansiar". - -cae-, Mar 18, 2012
Thank you once again for the explanation, it is very usefull for me, because I still don't know how to use all those words that I already know in Spanish. - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 18, 2012
I'm sure that Spain is wonderful during the winter too:) - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 18, 2012
Your English sentence is good, but I think it might sound better to say, "...I want to desperately." - katydew, Mar 18, 2012
Thank you so much, Katy! I will correct it:) - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 18, 2012
katydew: Do I always have to use the verb "want" that way? I mean: [Pronoun] + [Verb want] + [to] + [Adverb]. - -cae-, Mar 18, 2012
Preciosa vista de la torre desde el Patio de los Naranjos. Gracias, Silvia :) - Cordobesa, Mar 18, 2012
You are most welcome, Cordy! It is my pleasure:) - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 18, 2012
"I want to". is a short answer. But to say how much you want to do it, also add the adverb like you did. You can also say "I want to go deperately." or "I would love to go". Does that help? - katydew, Mar 18, 2012
Excellent explanation. Hope that Caefuego will see your answer too. Thank you, Katy! - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 19, 2012
typos on desperately. sorry. - katydew, Mar 19, 2012
where is the typo, Katy? Maybe I am too tired and I can't see it:) - Silvia_Tcherneva, Mar 19, 2012

Something like a joke: Winter should be in summer because that time it is warmer outside. wink

Algo como una broma: El invierno debería ser en el verano debido a que el tiempo es cálido fuera.

  2. Crep que iré para tener un cambio.

  3. Creo que para variar iré a las montañas.

Durante el verano es un buen tiempo momento para a que los niños disfrutar disfruten del chorro de agua de una boca de incendio y de los animales para que los animales se refresquen refrescarse en el bebedero.

During the summer is a great time for children to enjoy the gush of water from a fire hydrant and for the animals to cool off at the watering hole.

Every season has its own charm, but nothing compares to an early summer night in the season of cherries, strawberries and roses .

Cada estación tiene su propio encanto, pero nada se compara con una noche de verano en la estación de las cerezas, fresas y rosas.
