Socks and sizes

I'm a little confused about how to ask for sock sizes in Spanish. I know that one uses the word número for shoe sizes, but am not sure about sock sizes. What got me thinking about it was the word "calzar" which means to measure for a shoe size. It looks a little like "calcetines" which is the word for socks. How would you ask for a sock size? Does anyone know if these two words are related?

"talla" is the word most commonly used for clothing sizes.

That being said, you could simply ask

"¿De cuál talla es este par de calcetines?"=What size is this pair of socks?

"Llevo la talla 40 de zapatos. ¿Cuál sería mi talla de calcetines?"=I wear a size 40 shoe. What would be my sock size?
