How long does it take to learn spanish.

Well, it depends on how much time you put into it. For me, I've been studying for about 2 years now and there's still a lot for me to learn. If you're still in high school, the 4 years of the language, if you take all 4 years, should give you a fluent grasp on the language. But what you put into it is what you get. If you enjoy learning it though it shouldn't take long and the time period shouldn't bother you.
Well, I've never really met anyone who finished learning. Either you quit or you keep learning. Just the same in English (even as a native language) - you learn more over time. Now, how quickly you learn is a different question. Like the previous poster wrote, it depends a lot on you - how much time and practice you devote to learning Spanish. I think if you're putting in an hour or 2 daily for at least a year, you'll make wonderful progress; but it is very beneficial to work in all areas - reading, writing, and especially, speaking and listening (comprehension). I don't think you'll be fluent in a year, but I think you can still attain and retain a lot in that time.
