If you mean "estaba", it is used similarly to the English "I was", "he was", "she was", or "it was" depending on the context. I am not familiar with "estabal".

The only way I find it used at all even in Google search results is as a proper name. If it wasn't being used in that way, I'd be inclined to think it was a typo. - ciscocaja, Mar 9, 2012
