La comida: está bien o está buena

I have been wondering about this lately.. If you are talking about food and you want to express that it tastes good, do you say "está bien" or "está buena" ? and why?

¡La comida está buena! = The food is good!

  • La comida está bien. = The food is just ok! There is nothing "special" about it!
  • Also, note that "Bueno" is an adjective and "bien" is an adverb. So if you are modifying a noun, use bueno(a), bien will tell how something was done or how someone feels.

Thanks, it makes sense - I guess then that a lot of food in Spain is "just" ok because the standard comment about food, as I've experienced it, is "está bien". - laerque, Mar 8, 2012
