For anyone learning the past tense...

Estoy enseñando el pasado a unos de mis amigos, y por eso creé un folleto que explica cuando se usa el pretérito y el imperfecto, pero enfoca más en el imperfecto.
Me preguntaba si a algien le gustaría verlo.....aqui está 
Cuando se usa el imperfecto....
• The imperfect past tense is used to describe what you used to do or what was in progress when you talk about it. It often includes repeated or habitual actions. • The imperfect is also something that is seen as "incomplete," or continuing into the present. For example, If someone asked you "Was that your car," and that car is still your car to this day, you would reply with the imperfect. • The imperfect is used to describe a scene in the past, telling the time, weather, age, and descriptions are all in the imperfect.
Preterit • The preterit past tense expresses a single, completed action that is over. • Is used to describe what happens with detail and usually with specific time frame, or context to when the events happened.
Imperfect • Imperfect describes what used to happen, or what was going on, and signifies that the action could continue into the future. • It is used to describe what happens in general, or what it was like, usually without a specific time frame or context.
Imagine the first two chapters of a book. The first paragraph always sets the scene (what it was like, what was going on.) That information is in the imperfect. Now imagine the second paragraph following the first. This begins to introduce the actions and events with detail and with a specific time-frame. That is in the preterit.
Era un dia horrible. Hacía frio, y muchas personas se quedaban en su casa. Afuera, yo esperaba el autobus. Era un autobus muy grande y era amarillo. Usualmente, el autobus llegaba a tiempo, pero ese día fue diferente. Yo pensaba que nunca llegaría.
De repente, llegó! Me puse feliz, y por eso me caí y me rompé la nariz. Me doló tanto que tuve que ir al hospital. Al hospital, los doctores me dijeron que tendría que ser operado. Esto me hizo enojado. Todo en que quería hacer fue ir a escuela! No imaginé que esto pasaría!
It was a horrible day. It was cold, and many people stayed indoors. Outside, I was waiting for the bus. It was a big bus, and it was yellow. Usually, the bus would arrive on time, but this day was different. I was thinking that it would never arrive. All of the sudden, it arrived! I became happy and for that I fell and broke my nose. It hurt me so much that I had to go to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctors told me that I would have to go into surgery. This made me mad. All that I wanted to do was to go to school! I didn't imagine that this would happen!
