In Mexico, you can say: me puse un arete en la lengua or me puse un piercing en la lengua. It is most common that Youth people use the word piercing.
Tongue ring can be said in many different ways depending on who you associate yourself with . Here are 5 ex. to be able to say tongue ring and you will not be wrong but it might not be familiar to someone that speaks a different dialect.
1.Chapa de lengua o' anillo de lengua- This means tongue ring or earing tongue in Nicaragua. Chapa means earing I would consider this the most proper way to say it thought the definition in which is found in spanish would not really fit this description it doesn't take from the fact that in Nicaragua means earing and because it wouldn't matter if it was a bar tongue ring or an actual ring that you are wearing as a tongue ring. ****Chapa would basically take the meaning of the tongue ring itself whether it's a ring, bar, hoop, or or christmas tree shaped earing.****,so it would be a fair fit to the description. Before anyone critiques, saying that chapa, "what is that" and laugh on the way Nicaraguan's speak please research on the history of Nicauragua's Ruben Dario and the spanish language influence he had on it. Just by this relation of respect given to ruben dario by the Spain it would make it that even our slang would be better fit to be understood by the Spanish or Latin speaker. For all those scholars that claim Arette is the proper way I don't disagree but considering Nicaraguan history I wouldn't be wrong in the claim I'm making. Plus Arete's definition is a ring or Aro in spanish,it also describes a circular shape object which tongue earing don't only come in rings or circular style earing nor do earing, so therefore I would really suggest the use of Chapa as an alternative though the defenition of this is really not how it's defined in the spanish dictionaries and I don't know why.
2.Arette which for some would be consider the proper way of saying tongue ring or earing in that case commonly used also by the common people.
2.5. Anillo de lengua the reason for this is because it's in the form of a ring and ring in spanish is called Anillo
4.Earing de lengua this would be the spanglish way of saying tongue ring. It's really a slang and it uses a word from the spanish language and a word from the English language and mixes it to form a connotation for words or phrases from the Latin, spanish, hispanic community that was raised in the United States but holds little or alot of respect for their Ancestry depending on the person.
5.Argolla de lengua- This means tongue earing because the defenition of argolla is a ring or circular shape like dougnut. This would be a very unproper way to speak but if you are starting to speak the language it might be the most effective for spanish speaking people to understand you regardless of their class or education.
Note: Most of these word like Anillo, Argolla, describe a shape of the object so if you don't have a ring style tongue ring and it's a bar it wouldn't really fit the description of it.
