Should I skip Spanish 2?
I am currently taking Spanish 1, and I am often bored and ahead of the class (not bragging). My teacher told me it was possible to skip Spanish 2 and go directly to Spanish 3, but when I contacted the instructional coordinator at my school, he said only people with backgrounds in Spanish usually skipped, and said that it took high skill and intense work. I was wondering if I should take the test and try to skip Spanish 2 despite his words? I know conjugation of verb tenses (past perfect and imperfect, present, future) and a decent amount of vocabulary. Also, what could/should I work on if I try to skip Spanish 2, or what is covered in Spanish 2?

Well, I think you answered your own question there at the end. You need to know what is covered in Spanish 2 and then determine your level of comfort with that material. So ask the Spanish 2 teacher to show you the outline of what is covered in the class. Ask if you can take the mid term and final exams for practice. Etc.
Hello Esperanza and welcome to Spanishdict.com's forum. In my community college Spanish 2 involves more than the tenses and conjugations. How are you with the indirect and direct objects, the pronouns, demonstrative adjectives, the phrases that are common in Spanish, such as, lo/la que, cual que, por supuesto que no, lo que significa, debido a que, tales como, etc. If I could get them in a study course I think I would have been better equipped. As gringo is saying, much depends on what you know and what you don't know that is in the Spanish 2 class. Taking the pre-requisite test for Spanish 3 might help you in your decision, especially if it does not cost. Best of luck! We will be here no matter what you decide!
I wouldnt recommend it. If you are ahead now taking spanish two will get you more ahead but skipping might make you fall behind....
It's been so long since I took Spanish 2. But I think that you should take it if you're still working on (and uncomfortable) forming sentences (in speaking or writing). If you feel you can string up simple sentences pretty easily, then go for it. If you pass, great; if you don't, well, at least you gave it a shot. By the way, you mentioned you know verb conjugations. In which tenses are you able to conjugate? I think I learned past tense in Spanish 2 and that's necessary; so, if you don't know that yet, take your time to learn it, and take Spanish 2. I feel like I gave you conflicting advice, lol

No. I didn´t and I didn´t regret it. Just take it, it´s the best way.
I wouldn't recommend it, but I don't know you, or what school you are going to, or anything about the situation really. If you do choose to skip the Spanish 2 class, and your school's administration allows it, I highly recommend that you audit the Spanish 2 class as much as possible.

Why not? Take the test, you've got nothing to lose. There's no point in wasting time in a class that you don't need.
Personally I'd be more worried about whether or not you can carry on a conversation.
Audit the class if you can and skip it. Or ask your teacher for the placement ttest to see if you can get into the class you want to be in
