What does everybody think about maybe adding personal "word banks?"

What does everybody think about maybe adding personal "word banks?"

I often find myself looking up the same word several times as I encounter it in different situations. I utilize a different site (studystack.com) to compile online notecards with new words, however often I find myself looking up a word quickly as I am reading. In these cases I do not want to take the time (or do not have the time) to open up and sign into another website to enter a word.

Perhaps the functionality of having a "remember this word" button on the translate page, where the word would be saved under a word bank in your profile, could be created. The SpanishDict iPhone app has this functionality, and I use it often on the go. I think the ability to quickly review words you have already had exposure to, but may not be able to quickly recall yet, would be a great value added feature to SpanishDict.com.

What does everyone think?

P.S. As a side note to those behind SpanishDict.com I am extremely grateful for your work and use your site daily. Keep it up!

Many (maybe all?) of regular vocabulary words and verbs in the dictionary here now have a yellow star next to them. If you hover or click on that star, you can add that word and the definition to your own personal Flashcard set. I know this isn't exactly what you're proposing, but I've found this very helpful for certain words and verbs that I have a terrible time remembering! Check it out, and see if it's helpful for you.

That is actually very close to what I was suggesting! Thanks for the tip! - JKT1776, Mar 5, 2012
You're welcome! I just noticed it last week and it is very helpful. - RedLine55, Mar 5, 2012

Did you send this to feedback yet? They'd appreciate your suggestion.

Some new folks may not know that you can also double click a word while on the SD site and it gives a quick translation. It has its limits and many words don't come up with a quick translation but it is nice anyway when it does work.

I placed the question under "Website questions and Feedback." Is that what your meaning by "submitting" to feedback? - JKT1776, Mar 5, 2012
Yes, sorry, I didn't notice... there is a red feedback button too, off to the right for quick feedback, which I'm sure you've already found. This is a great idea. - katydew, Mar 5, 2012

Great idea! I use the google translator to do that which works pretty well (and I enjoy comparing the two sites' translations). . .but it would be nice to have a personal "word bank" in SD for your favorite words or words you use often. grin
