I'm trying to work out how to write gramatically : " I'm glad you received the postcard. I wasn't sure whether I should have used era un barrio or estaba un barrio........"

Can someone correct me if I'm correct please: btw - I am female:

Me alegro de que hayas recibido el postal. No estuve segura si debería utiliazado “era un barrio” o “estaba un barrio”.

It is era or es depending on the time scale you are referring to it is certainly the verb ser and not estar.

ah perhaps but my question is more about No estuve segura si deberia utililazado.... - vic5x5, Mar 1, 2012
In that case I would say No estuve seguro si debería utilizar era o estaba un barrio, I think that you need the infinative after debería. - kenwilliams, Mar 1, 2012
And you don't need to use the word barrio twice. - kenwilliams, Mar 1, 2012
