Are encontrarse and reunirse interchangable verbs to describe meeting with someone?

Not necessarily. Reunirse is more like a planned meeting or bringing together. Encontrarse is less organized, more spontaneous; like to run into each other or to find: ¿qué te has encontrado? or what have you found?

Encontarse= to Find one's self Reunires= To reunite with one's self Use encontarse when talking about something that not exactly planned, if i found 100 dollars it's not like i'm being reunited with it I found it! Use reunirse when it's planned like a family reunion! You don't just show up to a family reunion it's a planned event

  • For a chance meeting I would use encontrarse.
  • For a planned meeting there are many more choices, reunirse, unirse, juntarse, or tener una cita.
  • When together and planning the next meeting, nos vemos mañana a las ocho en la noche (or other time and date).

''encontrarse'' means, ''to meet, to encounter'' while ''reunirse'' means '' to meet at a union'', Well, ''meeting'' in Spanish, is not ''encouentro'' being thus produced from the equivalent verb, but ''reunion'' in this sense it derives from ''reunirse'', THANK YOU!!
