Hmm...I've never seen a curly tail on the word "barco" in Spanish. If you mean "barço," then that is a Turkish word meaning something like "bowline." When you see a ç in Catalan and Basque, it means that you should pronounce the letter C as an S. But I have not seen it on any Spanish words in modern texts since it was replaced with the letter Z back in the 18th century.

You may be mistaken. If you have seen "Barça" then it is referring to the Barcelona soccer team. That is their nickname. The "squiggly C tail" is used in Catalán, one of the four official languages in Spain.
