It is a "play" that is intended to provide educational instruction. Like a puppet's play that has been designed to teach children. It can also be a theatrical play that its goal is to provide education, instruction.

• It uses theatrical tools with the purpose of teaching.

• When I went to Pedagogic School, we had an area of study called "Teatro Pedagógico" which is a teaching tool. We even had to make puppets and put together some plays with puppets. We also performed some theatrical plays to teach History which tends to be a boring subject to a lot of kids.

FYI: el teatro pedagógico = EDUCATIONAL THEATER. The word 'pedagógico' however isn't about theater, and puppetry is in no manner a vital or needed part in educational theater.
