Entonces:

(adverb) then, at that time; so

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The sentence with the most votes will be crowned the Word of the Day winner!

Guidelines:

  • Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either.
  • Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well.
  • Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary).
  • Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.)
  • Have fun experimenting with Spanish!

My examples

1: Desde entonces, he practicado cada día.

2: Entonces, ¿qué quieres hacer?

There's something I may not understand. At first, it's said that "do not include the English...", but in the guidelines, it's said that "but include the English..." - Fidalgo, Feb 28, 2012
Sorry about the confusion, everyone. Just trying to make the game more Spanish friendly. I think it works better with the English sentences. Sorry again! - Paralee, Feb 28, 2012

Nice sentence, jool. To make this a more Spanish friendly game, don't include your English translation. - Paralee, Feb 27, 2012
I would say Yo pensaba, solía is not required. - kenwilliams, Feb 27, 2012
And it is a classic case of when the personal pronoun comes into use otherwise it could be he/she as the first and third person conjugation is the same. - kenwilliams, Feb 27, 2012
Actually, solía pensar is perfectly fine! It even sound very native! ¡Solía pensar que era guapo! ¡Entonces, descubrí el espejo! I love it jool! - farallon7, Feb 27, 2012
I thought that the use of YO at the beginning, and GUAPO (male), plus the general text would have led one to believe that ERA= I was. - jool, Feb 27, 2012
Thanks farallon. As a beginner, it's nice to have your comments. - jool, Feb 27, 2012
It is not the fact that is incorrect, but it is poetic language. That's why I said that sound very native. So, both are correct, but that structure is very nice laid out! The changed I made is required! But I'm impressed! - farallon7, Feb 27, 2012

Granja o finca es "Farm" ??? - Poncho7, Feb 28, 2012
Hi katydew I have a suggestion for you. Crecía en la finca, entonces nos cambiamos de casa (or "nos mudamos de casa") al otro pueblo. You must to use "nos" and "cambiamos" or "mudamos" because you are talking in plural about all your family (we moved). - xtiagox, Feb 28, 2012
Thanks for the help.. if it has both cattle and grain, do I say granja o finca? - katydew, Feb 29, 2012
Poncho, I'm not sure except I have heard it both ways in different countries. Any help on that anyone? - katydew, Feb 29, 2012
Hi Katydew. Granja and finca are synonyms but finca is used to mean you have a house in the country to rest, you can have cattle and farmland in your finca but you have a country house too. - xtiagox, Mar 1, 2012
You can check the differences between Granja and Finca in google images its very clear the difference.. - xtiagox, Mar 1, 2012
Ah, thaks. Very helpful. - katydew, Mar 1, 2012

Ya estaba durmiendo pero escuché una pelea de gatos y me desperté. Entonces entre a SD.com a contestar un par de preguntas. De verdad.

I was sleeping but I heard a cat fight and it woke me up then I connected to SD.com to answer a couple of questions. True story.

Olvida el odio para recordar el amor

Confia en mí para dejar el dolor

Por aquel entonces que lloras,

Aseguraré que sonrías

Te quiero y es por eso que

A tú lado me quedaré
