I'm trying to write - death penalty, is it ever acceptable/reasonable?

Hello Vic. This is a very interesting question, if somewhat ambiguous. It all depends in which context you are using it. The subject matter itself is very controversial, for instance, if you were to say "La pena de muerte" for people who commit 'any' traffic offence, then the small crime of speeding, illegal parking or driving without a tax disc.....would disappear 'Overnight'! Also, there would be a huge out cry from the general populace. On the other hand, if you said that ALL serial killers should incur "La pena de muerte", I 'suspect' that the MAJORITY of the population would agree with you. Having said all of this, 'most' of us live in a free world where we can say what we like, as long as we are not using defamation of character, which of course IS a crime......but at least we'll be spared "La pena de muerte!! Hope that this is of 'some' interest...Jool. P.S. If it's a translation, then perhaps, "¿Hay alguna justificación para la pena de muerte?"
