My question is regarding the use of "frente a". I think I was trying to translate literally and in Spanish the concept of against predators, or for protection against predators can be expressed with "frente a"? So it translates the concept of "facing", "in the face of", or "in front of"? Any thoughts are appreciated. Muchas gracias!

It is similar to "face up" such as "face up reality".

You must face up reality.- Debes hacer frente a la realidad.

You must face up reality.- Debes enfrentarte a la realidad.

"Frente a" is very similar to "enfrentarse" but in your case you cannot use "enfrentarse" but "frente a".

I believe the expression is "face up to" (etc) - Por ejemplo "You've gotta face up to reality, it's not gonna work!" - reinosubterráneo, Feb 26, 2012
'face reality' or 'face up to reality' - reinosubterráneo, Feb 26, 2012

Here is something I found on the internet. Google is a wonderful thing.

hacer cara; hacer frente a to face, confront

hacer frente a deal with, tackle

frente a towards; opposite

frente a in front of

Hola Joyce! Thank you because in English we do use those phrases, "deal with" "tackle the housework". - bandit51jd, Feb 26, 2012
