¿Bailar de salon?

¿Bailar de salon?

I had to do some digging to come up with a translations for ballroom dance and tap dancing and I got "bailar de salon" and "la claque, respectively.

But, when I used these expressions in two different spanish classes, I got blank expressions from my teachers (both native Spanish speakers)--they hadn't heard of either, and didn't have good alternatives.

Is there a better way to say "ballroom dance" and "tap dance"?

Gracias

Maybe you just pronounced it oddly? That is often the cause of blank stares.. - annierats, Feb 24, 2012

Donde yo vivo, se conocen como "baile de salón" y "claqué" (masculino).
