Question about banning

Question

I have been banned from the Chat room unfairly. I protested against an inappropriate comment about gangs, and the person started to insult me, etc. iana01 stood up for me and yet, I was banned a few minutes later.

How is this fair when he was the one who started calling me a "F-ing hooker"? I am asking you to release me from this ban since it WAS unfair. I only wish to learn and I have made friends on the chat and I would like to continue to use it.

I admit my temper got the best of me, but I assure you, it won't happen again.

You know, there has been a recent problem in the chat where random members became chat mod. There was another person who was kicked out for no reason not too long ago. Sorry this happened! =( - NikkiLR, Feb 21, 2012

Hi jmj7,

I responded to your private message, but it says you are not accepting PMs.

I have sent your message to our programmers so that they can hopefully come up with a solution. We don't have our own chat program, we use TinyChat, so I'm not sure if we can do much without knowing who it was that banned you.

For now, it might be helpful to know that whoever is the first person in the chatroom, automatically becomes the moderator unless an administrator signs in. Hopefully I will have some better news for you soon.

Based on what you have shared with us, it does seem that you have been unfairly treated recently in the chatroom. and I can fully understand your sense of injustice, especially considering the other person swore at you.

I think that you are being very honest about your part and your willingness to admit your contribution and act differently in future is very commendable!

However, it has always been the policy, to the best of my knowledge, to inform the site administrators of such incidents, who now also happen to be the management, and your complaint about unfair treatment and let them deal with it.
