Un constipado
Can one say "Tengo un constipada" in Spanish for "I have a cold", or must one only use estar as in "Estoy constipada"? I'm working on some flash cards called "At the doctors office" and am trying to simplify. ¡Gracias!

"Estoy resfriado/a", "Estoy constipado/a", "Estoy acatarrado/a" are the same.
Other expressions you could hear (Spanish from Spain):
"Tengo un resfriado/constipado/catarro terrible"
"¡He pillado/cogido/pescado un buen resfriado!"
In a Spanish TV show, I heard them using "tengo un resfrío."
Here are more ways of saying it. But I am not a native speaker, not sure which one is used where.
You have to say "tengo un resfrío" or "estoy resfriado", if you want to use the word "constipado" you have to say "estoy constipado" which is also correct.
It's extremely rare to hear someone saying "tengo constipación".
Watch out, "Constipado" IS NOT "constipated"; this is a case of ''false friends''. Constipated in Spanish is "estreñido".
Greetings.
Constipado => constipated. Nothing to do with a cold.
Anyway, you can't say "tengo un constipado". The propey way would be "tengo constipación" or "estoy constipado/a".
If you have a cold, you can say either "Tengo un resfriado" or "estoy resfriado". Tengo un resfrío" is also used.
Estoy resfriado means I have cold but estoy constipado ,Simply mean I have costipation. But I my be wrong as I am not a native spanish speaker.
