how do you use the flash cards??

Question

Do you go over the flashcards again and again untill you know it then take the test???

or just dive straight in and do it?

what other methods do you use to remember the words and grammer?

Repetition is very helpful. I truly believe repetition in some form or another, is the only way we ever learn something well enough to make it feel natural.

Flash cards themselves are of limited use. They are good for adding words to your vocabulary (yes, through repetition). But, in order to truly feel comfortable using those words in context, you have to start using them (probably uncomfortably). You will most likely make a lot of mistakes. Don't be afraid of that! That's one of the better ways to learn.

Normally I just directly take the test. I don't really have a problem making more or less mistakes. At least you might be able to spot some "common mistakes" or be able to easily remember words after annoyingly typing them in wrong for five times.

Furthermore I really enjoy reading books to improve my language skills. You can learn a bunch of vocabulary, when you are looking up all the words you don't know (or you are not sure about). And the second benefit is, that you'll soon get a feeling for the language and how to use it correctly.

My main advice is: No matter how you learn, try to have at least a little bit of pleasure doing it. This will help you achieving the best results. No matter if you learn via chatting, movies, novels, textbooks, podcasts, grammar lessons, flashcards or by any other mean...
