Podrías decir "autorrelajante" o "autocalmante".

Hello riverphoenix. This is a difficult one! Using a hyphen would indicate a 'compound', and as far as I know, Spanish doesn't appear to use hyphens. Auto in Spanish does indeed mean 'self' as well as car...but not with a hyphen. As for 'soothing'. That depends on what sort of soothing. Soothing from pain is: 'alivia'. Soothing with words or tone is: 'calmante'. And soothing with ointment is: 'sedante'. Soothing yourself is: 'Calmante uno mismo'. I guess that if you want to start a new trend, (and they happen all the time) then you could say: 'Auto-calmante', or perhaps your original, 'Auto-alivia'. To give an example of a hyphenated phrase in English which is spoken as one word. This would be: 'Non-profit-making'. In Spanish this will be: 'No lucrativo'....spot the lack of hyphens?! Well, I hope that all of this hasn't damaged your brain, and has been of 'some' help....Jool.
